Children in multiproblem families receive support in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The grant will enable selected NGOs to establish a day centre for children from multi-problem families in different parts of B&H. The day centres will offer daily support and assistance to the children at risk. More than 300 children between 6 and 15 years old, will have access to the centres. The centres will be pilot projects and the model is meant to be replicated at more locations in B&H, in a later stage.
Kinderpostzegels co-finances the projects. TALDi, as local partner in this project has the role of national B&H project management and will take active part in providing capacity building trainings to selected NGOs, together with other relevant national and international experts.
The B&H ministry for human rights and refugees supports the project which fits in B&H Strategy for Combating Violence Against Children.
Netherlands ambassador in Sarajevo His Excellency Sweder van Voorst tot Voorst encouraged the pilot organisations with the words: “Mission of non governmental organisations in your country is of extreme importance. Through establishment of Centres and with professional support, I am sure you will succeed in your mission“.
At the signing ceremony the Minister for human rights and refugees in B&H, Prof dr Safet Halilović said: “Thanks to the initiative and cooperation among project partners, the assumption for establishing 7 day Centres have been created. In these Centres, one of the most vulnerable group of children will get the support and I believe that with these interventions you will contribute to the positive changes and minimise negative behaviours".
International project coordinator Mariana van Teeffelen (Kinderpostzegels) stressed that “without additional, joint efforts to have children in multi-problem families growing up into healthy and responsible adults and future parents through this type of pilot projects involving local NGO, local authorities and experts, B&H will have to face complex social issues reflected on all segments of the society, in the future”.
