Komar Rikreay has documented its policy and procedures with regard to alternative forms of care. They have placed children from different backgrounds (trafficking, former street children or orphans) in foster care and in group homes in and around Battambang, a rural area in Cambodia.

In November 2006 Cordaid and Kinderpostzegels organised a seminar in Bangalore, India. The workshop focused on Alternative Forms of Care for Children without Parental Care. The newsletter is a follow-up action that was promised during this seminar. It contains information on what other non-gouvernmental organisations have done after the seminar. Kinderpostzegels and Cordaid have taken the initiative to further the discussion on different forms of care and to stimulate partner organisations in Asia to take up alternatives of care for children without parental care. For this purpose they have compiled an overview of the main trends in the current debate on care for these children.
