Programa de Intercambio Brasil-Angola' (PIBA)

07/08/07 — Early in 2003, the proposal was put forward to approach the Kinderpostzegels partners in Brazil to train Kinderpostzegels partners in Angola in the field of the Rights of the Child, Community Participation, lobbying and advocacy etc. When asked for their opinion on this, the majority of the Kinderpostzegels partners in Angola, including Miguel Vincente, the local Kinderpostzegels advisor in Angola, reacted positively.
During a working visit to Brazil in April 2003, there was an assessment of the interest in this idea shown by the relevant Kinderpostzegels partners. The outcome was that all the organisations approached showed an interest in cooperating with Angolan child support agencies and were also prepared to play an active role in any technical support (training courses, capacity building) of those organisations. In order to formulate a concrete capacity building programme that could be carried out with the help of Brazilian organisations, it was then agreed that during the following working visit of the Kinderpostzegels to Angola someone from ceris, our local advisor in Brazil, would also go in order to get a personal idea of the actual situation in Angola and of the Kinderpostzegels partners there and to support the realisation of a proposal in that direction. The intended joint working visit would take place in September of 2003.
